The cold weather is here and I wanted to take a second to remind everyone of the importance of warming up properly before a strenuous workout. We have a 15 minute warm up before our workout starts. For some people that might be enough, but some people may need more time. I encourage everyone to be here early for class so they can stretch and warm up a little prior to the start of class. The cold weather can really take a toll on your muscles from walking out in the cold. Your muscles tighten up when you go outside and that cold air hits you. Keep this in mind and make sure you are taking time to warm up and then stretch enough so you can avoid injuries.

Weight loss is always on our mind. I would like to start of my saying what I hope a lot of us have heard. Being skinny does not mean your in good shape. Our bodies need fat and muscle to function properly. I am laughing right now because I am thinking about one of my favorite TV shows on True TV called ADAM RUINS EVERYTHING. If you do not like the show then that is ok. Not everyone likes it and some people I have talked to hate it. But the point of the show is to encourage critical thinking by showing you that everything you here on the news and tv is not always correct. That is enough about that show. But the reason for bringing that up is I want to encourage you to use your critical thinking and look into your health. Don't blindly follow what is being told to you. listen to it, and understand that there is always a change to learn more or to learn a different way. This brings me back to weight loss. Losing weight must begin with a life style change. What ever you do to lose the weight you lost, you must continue to do that otherwise over time it will come back if you go back to your old ways. That is the point I wanted to get across. Weight loss begins with a life style change. Little things that must be done continuously. For example here are a few things off the top of my head: Less sugar in your coffee, less soda, more water, take the stairs instead of an elevator, raking your leaves instead of blowing them, using a push mower instead of a riding mower, eating smaller meals through the day..... Any of these done alone are useless, but they are part of a bigger picture. I just randomly chose some ideas. I hope I sparked your interest and got you thinking. Have a great day.
A student asked my one night what it is about punching the bags that makes you stronger. That is a great question. So the answer is resistance. Every time you punch or kick the bag you are met with resistance and your muscles are trying to overcome that resistance. The other nice thing about this is that it is a full body workout. You are incorporating many muscle groups at once to execute these punches and kicks. You are constantly using your core as well as your arm and leg muscles. We do some exercises in the beginning of class to target specific muscle groups also. I had to laugh and think about the total gym commercial with chuck norris. Its a full body workout and you can work different muscles groups without changing positions or machines, and it is easy to transition from one exercise to another. Well the same is true about our class. We roll right from one exercise to the other. That is why our fitness kickboxing program is such a great workout!

I recently was talking to a lady who has been doing kickboxing with me for a while now and we got talking about why she started and we were talking about finances. She told me she has to really watch and manage her money so she is able to do kickboxing. She said what made her sign up was my energy and excitement I produced in kickboxing class. The way I was able to encourage people to get them to keep going was what made her want to sign up. Our kickboxing instructors really try their best to walk the fine line between teaching and letting you hit the bags. It makes for an awesome class. Our goal is to get you sweating and get your heart rate up and keep it their for the entire class. We are dedicated to your success.
Sometimes we get busy and forget about our workout. Then we get stuck in a rut and thats it. But I recently had a student come back to class finally after many months. It might have been a year. About 5 minutes into hitting the bags she said "I forgot how much fun this was." I was glad to hear that. So , it might not be easy to get back in to the swing of things, but remember it is a lot of fun. Taking that first action step is the most difficult. You just have to get started.
From time to time a meet people who have taken kickboxing classes elsewhere and they did not feel like they got the best workout. Most recently I spoke to a women who had to make sure with me that we had enough bags for everyone. I assured her we did. There is not waiting in line, they is no down time in our fitness kickboxing classes. We like to have 2 people per punching bag and if the class is small enough everyone has their own. Now of course you can slow down a little if you feel you need to. We always have people signing up into our class and I make sure they understand they should not try and keep pace with the people who have been doing this for years. You have to start and push yourself at your pace. We give you the means and the ability to do just that. Are you looking for a workout? Look no further. Click on the yellow button to get started and claim you $100 coupon.
Our fitness kickboxing classes are taught by instructors that have many years of training experience. I want to make one point about our classes. It is not just punching there plenty of kicking techniques during the class as well. Now our kickboxing classes are taught by the same instructors that teach our karate classes. Which means when you are doing your kickboxing class we can not only help you with punching correctly, but we can help you with the more difficult part which is kicking. I get to talk to a lot of instructors from around the county and one thing I have heard often is the kickboxing programs that are taught by karate guys are usually better because they understand the body mechanics of kicking and punching. We help you understand how to use your core when you punch and kick which increases your workout! There is not a problem you can have or a mistake you can make that we haven't. So we know exactly how to help you because we have been there and done that. Come on in and try a class and you will see what I mean.
Summer is officially over and its back to school time. This is when everyone has to get back on schedule and it can be difficult sometimes. The best advise I can give you is to just do it. It might be painful mentally or physically, but once you get started it will be easier. Its just taking that first step that is the toughest. Starting anything in life is the toughest part. Here are some examples: Working out, new school schedule, new work schedule, starting your day at work, starting your to do list at home, cleaning.... The list goes on and on. We have all heard someone say "im on a roll". They will start a task and they just get into a rhythm and whatever they are doing just seems to get done easier, or faster, or to them it seems like it is taking less effort. Well getting started was the hard part and once they got going it was easier. One last example is your car. Think about getting your car up to speed. That part is what requires the most energy from your engine. If you are familiar car terms, this is when your RPMS are the highest! But once you get up to speed your engine has to put out less power to keep you going. Less RPMS less effort but your still going 30, 40, 50 miles per hour.
